1What Happens When You Click

✅ No password sharing You never give us your Shopify password. Shopify generates a separate access token that we use to make API calls. The token is unique to our app and can only do what you approved.

Click the ... menu → Uninstall
Confirm — done. Our access stops immediately.

✅ Instant + complete The moment you uninstall, our access token is invalidated. We cannot make any API calls to your store. Even if we tried, Shopify rejects the request.

📋 Frequently Asked

Will this slow down my store?

No. The app runs server-side from AICOM's backend. No scripts are added to your store unless you specifically request a pixel install (e.g., Hyros tracking). Even then, the script runs async and doesn't block page rendering.

What changes will AICOM actually make?

Same things your AM has been doing manually — product updates, theme code, pixel installs, customer tagging. Nothing new in scope. Just faster execution. Every change is logged in your Shopify activity feed (Settings → Activity log) so you have full visibility.

Can AICOM see my customers' payment methods or addresses?

Names and email addresses: yes (with read_customers) — we need that for segmentation and tagging. Payment methods or full credit card data: no. We didn't request shopify_payments or any payment scopes. Shopify never exposes raw payment data to apps anyway — it's PCI-protected.

What if I have multiple Shopify stores?

Install the app on each one separately. Use a different install link per store (your AM will send them). Each store keeps its own permissions and can be revoked independently.

Does this cost me anything?

No. The app is free to install. It's part of your AICOM service. There are no Shopify app store fees because this is a Custom App (not on the Shopify App Store).

Is this an official Shopify-approved app?

It's a Shopify "Custom Distribution" app — built using Shopify's official OAuth and API standards, registered in Shopify's Partner Dashboard. It uses the same security architecture as App Store apps but isn't publicly listed (it's only installed by AICOM clients). You can verify the developer is AICOM by clicking the app on your install screen.

How is the access token stored?

Encrypted at rest with AES-256. Only authorized AICOM systems can decrypt it. It's never logged in plain text, never sent to third parties, and is automatically rotated if any security event is detected.

What if Shopify changes their permissions later?

If we need to add a new permission (e.g., a new feature requires read_locations), we'll send you a re-authorization request. Until you approve, we can't use the new scope. Existing scopes keep working.

I'm worried about giving any agency this much access. What's my recourse if something goes wrong?

Three layers of protection: (1) Every API call we make is logged in your Shopify activity feed — full audit trail. (2) You can uninstall in 5 seconds, anytime, no questions asked. (3) AICOM has SOC 2-aligned internal controls, encrypted token storage, and a published incident response policy. If you want a formal data processing agreement, your AM can arrange one.
